Name:
Location: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, United States

Born in Columbus, Ohio, I graduated from OSU and then studied to be a college math professor (Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico in 1967), but after several years teaching at Bowling Green State University (Ohio) and the University of Pittsburgh, PA, I got sidetracked into a career in computers and eventually in publishing. I retired in 1999 from a 25-year career with Ziff-Davis Publishing Company in New York where I had been Vice President of Circulation Systems. Now Mary Ann (my wife) and I "do genealogy", enjoy our Gettysburg home, and travel.

Death of Elizabeth Isabel (Remaley) Taylor

I have just received notice that the last of the four Remaley/Ramaley genealogists that I profiled here, has died. Isabel was one of the longest-living people I have known, dying at age 99 (3 Aug 1908 - 6 Nov 2007). She spent many hours in genealogical research and wrote a three-part series in the Pennsylvania Traveler, vol 10, #3 (May, 1974), p 53 about her Remaley ancestors. Although in letters to my uncle, David Ramaley, Isabel expressed some doubts about her early assertion that her branch of the family was started in America by Hans-Jurg Ramly, she always made researchers in any Remaley/Ramaley line feel welcome and gladly shared her work with others. She was the last of the major "pre-internet" researchers and with her passing that era comes to a close.
